Traditional vs. AI-Native
What actually changes, axis by axis.
Every row on the right is a directly falsifiable claim about a practice after it transforms the operating model. We track them.

Why this isn't a technology gap. It's a structural one.
Why BigLaw structurally can't
- AI automates first-draft contracts, research memos, and due diligence - almost exactly the billable work junior associates are paid to do. Every automated hour is revenue the hourly model has no way to recapture.
- A managing partner who fully automates the associate layer isn't modernising the firm - they're dismantling the machine that pays for the building, the recruiting pipeline, and their own partnership stake.
- A three-hundred-partner firm can't rebuild pricing, intake, and delivery by decision - only by consensus among people whose personal income depends on the current model. That consensus reliably produces pilots, not rebuilds.
Why independent firms structurally can
- No leverage model extracting margin from junior hours means every automated hour is recovered life, not lost revenue - identical technology, opposite economics.
- One person can decide to publish fixed pricing on a Tuesday and have it live Wednesday. No committee, no pilot, no change-management consultant.
- Nothing to unlearn: no decade of process documentation or custom-configured document management system voting against the rebuild.
