Insurance policy and coverage review

Policies are long, and the parts that decide the claim are rarely where anyone expects. We read the whole document, including the endorsements that modify it, and hand back a summary of what is actually available and what stands in the way.

What you receive

A coverage summary naming limits, exclusions and stacking issues relevant to the claim.

  • Declarations summarised: named insureds, period, limits per person, per occurrence and aggregate
  • Every endorsement read and its effect on the base form noted, rather than listed by form number
  • Exclusions relevant to the claim facts identified and quoted
  • Coverage extensions, UM and UIM provisions, and stacking potential assessed against the jurisdiction
  • Conditions precedent flagged: notice, cooperation, proof-of-loss and suit limitation provisions
  • An other-insurance analysis where multiple policies may respond

What it costs, and what it replaces

Both figures are published ranges for the same unit of work. Ours is fixed before we start; if our process gets faster, that is our gain and your price does not move.

How the work runs

  1. 01

    Assemble the real policy

A policy is a base form plus endorsements that rewrite it. We reconstruct the operative language first, and flag immediately if what you have been given is incomplete — which it often is.

  2. 02

    Map to the claim

The facts are mapped against the insuring agreement, then against each exclusion that could plausibly apply, with the operative language quoted rather than paraphrased.

  3. 03

    Limits and stacking

We set out the available limits, whether stacking is plausible under the policy language and the jurisdiction's treatment of it, and whether other policies may respond.

  4. 04

    Conditions and deadlines

Notice, cooperation, proof-of-loss and suit limitation provisions are extracted with their deadlines, so a condition does not defeat a covered claim.

What we need from you

  • The complete policy including the declarations page and all endorsements
  • A short statement of the claim facts and the loss date
  • The governing jurisdiction
  • Any other policies that may be implicated

What we check before delivery

  • Every endorsement is read and reconciled against the base form before the summary is written
  • Exclusion analysis quotes the operative text rather than summarising it
  • Gaps in the produced policy are reported explicitly, with what is missing named
  • Jurisdictional treatment of stacking is cited, not assumed

When firms send us this

  • Evaluating a claim's real value before committing to work it up
  • Multiple potentially responsive policies with unclear priority
  • UM and UIM questions where stacking would change the case economics
  • Coverage positions asserted by a carrier that need to be tested against the actual language

Questions about insurance policy and coverage review

  • Is this a coverage opinion?

No. It is a structured summary of what the policy says, mapped to the facts you gave us, prepared for the engaging attorney's review. Coverage opinions are legal advice and we do not provide them.

  • What if the carrier only produced part of the policy?

We tell you which endorsements are referenced but missing, and which parts of the analysis cannot be completed until they are produced. That list is often useful on its own.

  • Do you handle commercial policies?

Yes — CGL, auto, umbrella, professional and homeowners. Complex tower structures with multiple layers are quoted at the upper end of the range.
